The short answer
Three companies we checked say on their own pages that they pay weekly or let you choose weekly payouts: Cambly, VIPKid and Outschool (for weekly classes). Several others say they pay monthly. Our directory of 380 companies doesn't hold a pay-schedule field, so this guide only lists companies whose official page states it. If a company isn't here, we haven't confirmed its schedule.
Companies whose official page says weekly
| Company | What its official page says | Keep in mind |
|---|---|---|
| Cambly | "Payment for Tutoring Services is made on a weekly basis whenever you are owed at least US$20.00 (the "minimum payment threshold"), unless you elect to receive payment on a different schedule." (Cambly Tutor Addendum) | Weekly only once you are owed at least US$20. Payments go through a processor Cambly designates (for example Stripe or PayPal). |
| VIPKid | "Teachers may choose to be paid weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly. Your payment date is based on your preference." (VIPKid Teacher Pay page) | The same page says: "Earn $14-$22 an hour, with total earnings ranging from $15.6 - $28.4 per hour including various incentives." |
| Outschool | For recurring weekly classes, Outschool sends the payout "7 days after the week's first meeting". (Outschool Support: payouts to Stripe) | This is the schedule for Stripe payouts, which Outschool says it is moving to on a rolling basis. Other class types have different timing (fixed-length paid upfront: "7-8 days after the section starts"). |
Companies whose official page says monthly
| Company | What its official page says |
|---|---|
| New Ivy English | "We process all payments by the 10th of every month." (New Ivy English FAQ) |
| International Language Coaching Inc. | "Payment: Transferred monthly prior to the 15th" (ILC Apply Now page) |
| Jade Class English | "Remuneration is paid in USD through direct deposit on a monthly basis between the 10th and 12th of the month." (JadeClass Teach With Us page) |
Weekly pay vs higher pay
A weekly schedule helps cash flow, but it says nothing about how much you earn. Compare the rate, the minimum payout, any fees from the payment processor or currency conversion, and how many hours you can actually fill. Official pay and fee statements are collected in our online ESL teacher pay report.
What to check before you rely on a payout date
- Minimum threshold. Cambly, for example, pays weekly only once you are owed at least US$20.
- Processor timing. Outschool says that after it sends a payout to Stripe, the bank transfer "typically takes 2–3 business days for most US accounts".
- Your country. Supported payout methods and transfer times vary by country.
- Changes. Payment terms are in the company's teacher agreement or help centre and can change with notice.
Tools for online teachers
Once you have shortlisted a few companies, it helps to have one page that shows who you are as a teacher. You can create a free online teacher profile page on Teacher4.me and share it with students, parents, and schools alongside your company applications.
